Custom MeshCore builds, updated 2026-10-12 14:34. Choose your device, choose what it should be, then flash.
1 Which device do you have?
The nRF52 boards (T114, SenseCAP Solar) install over USB serial, or by copying a UF2 file onto the board's drive; the RP2040 board uses the drive copy. All in Chrome or Edge. Not listed? These are the boards with a build so far.
2 What should it be?
3 Flash it
From this page (Chrome or Edge):
Plug the board in with a data USB cable and click 1. Restart into update mode, then pick the board's port. (Already double-tapped reset? Skip to step 2.)
Click 2. Choose the board and install and pick the board again. It may be listed under a different name now.
Hold the BOOTSEL button while plugging the board in. A drive named RPI-RP2 appears.
Click Install onto the board's drive and pick that drive.
Doing it by hand
Afterwards open the console and run “Did the flash work?” (repeaters), or pair a companion with the phone app.
Plug the board in with a data USB cable; close anything else using its serial port.
Click Install, pick the board's port, and tick Erase device for a first install or when changing kind of firmware (this wipes its settings).
If no port shows up, hold the board's BOOT button while plugging it in and try again.
When it finishes, unplug and replug the board.
Then open the console and run “Did the flash work?” (repeaters, room servers and sensors). For a companion radio, pair it with the phone app instead.
Doing it another way
Download the image and flash it yourself at offset 0x0:
download .bin, then esptool.py --chip esp32s3 write_flash 0x0 file.bin.
Good to know
Use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Firefox and Safari cannot talk to serial devices, so they cannot flash.
After flashing a repeater or room server, the console here can read and change its settings (name, location, radio and frequency, adverts, password). The upstream page config.meshcore.io does the same with a fuller form.
A fresh or erased board starts on the US radio preset (910.525 MHz, 62.5 kHz bandwidth, SF7, CR 4/5) instead of upstream's EU/UK default. A board that already has saved settings keeps them: tick “Erase device” to start fresh, or change it in the console. Make sure it matches your local network.
Wrong image for the chip leaves the board not booting. Flash the right one to recover it (hold BOOT while plugging in if it will not connect).
Flashing uses ESP Web Tools (Apache-2.0), bundled here, so this page needs no internet.
